216-416-0033-- What the fuck?
Somebody called my cell phone from the number 216-416-0033 (call it, you get static) and left a vulgar message. I did a search, and it happened to somebody else, same exact number.
But unfortunately, that link doesn't help much. Any ideas?

Reader mail!
i know this is random, but i am not a member of your blog, so i am sending you a myspace message.
i googled the relay number that prank called me this evening, the same one you got a call from in april. that relay number is a number you can find online somewhere, and use your computer to make relay calls. usually you have to have a certain phone to use relay, but this company lets you do it through a computer, thus allowing non-deaf people to make relay calls to other non-deaf people. i found out that it was my boyfriend's little brother calling me, so chances are someone you know found the number and used their computer to call you. so its not some crazy person calling you. just thought i would let you know, that way you can maybe post a comment in your entry to let others know what is going on when they google and find your site. thanks!

Maybe it is some sort of bizarre recruitment technique...ala Last Starfighter.
ReplyDeleteHey man, I just got that same phone call, from the same phone number... I googled it and found your that one site and this one. So I signed up and left this comment. Its crazy man.
ReplyDeleteI just got a call from that number. they said they were a company called Relay IT and they were translating for someone on a computer who wanted to talk to me. They asked me something vulgar and I hung up but I am very shaken up.
ReplyDeletei filed a police report and it has happened several times recently in my area. if it happens again you should file a report.
ReplyDeleteI just got a call from that number tonight, and was told it was the Relay thing. They knew my name, and kept saying "Hello? Are you there? Go ahead." I hung up before anything else was said, because I was so confused. I thought it may have been from a deaf friend of mine, who was trying to call me, but now I'm sure it was this thing instead. What's the purpose of doing this? Did they just steal and sell my number?
ReplyDeleteJust happend to me to. Called at 1:30, 1:31, 1:32...etc until 1:45. I dont pick up numbers I dont know so I got 15 messages of what sounded like a fax.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fk is going on???
hmmmm. strange i got a call from that # tonight and said somethings that could be true ... wtf ? it sounded like the person knew who i am where are you guys and girls from ????
ReplyDeleteI just got this call too. I thought it was some sort of technique used by my collection agency to validate my cell phone (it's the only number I have), so I didn't answer. They didn't leave a message. Are any of you dealing with a collection agency or something? Maybe there is a connection. I live in Ohio.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that we all say the same thing and have not found out how we got stupid messages. I got hit too by the same damn number! It has to be some messaging service you can call because they said stuff that only people who knew what i do would know.
ReplyDeleteMy sister just got a call from that number...we think it is from this jack@ss who is pissed at my sister. We are going to file a complaint with the police...I wanna jsut go pound on somebody....
ReplyDeleteThis JUST happened to me, too, about ten minutes ago. The person on the other end of the line knew my name. The relay service was MCI and I am on the phone with them right now trying to find the origin of the call. I just found out I'm talking to a call center in the philippines, though, so he does not appear able to help me.
ReplyDeleteso this number called me at 12.30 in the morning but I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. So I called back and there was this screeching noise and my friends decided it was aliens...but I guess not
ReplyDeleteIts probably a relay for My IP Relay or a similar service. cause that go-ahead stuff is what they do. its not a bad service, but it does allow someoen to harass you anonomously.
ReplyDeleteHappened to me today. Some lady said it was a relay call, and that a person talking through the CPU would type and she would talk for them. Then she hung up though. Very weird. Has anyone checked to make sure they didnt get a reverse phone charge on their accounts? Seems like that is how the scam works.
ReplyDeleteThat happened to me at midnight last night. I was browsing through my incoming calls just now when I saw the number so I googled it, and found this site. And thanks to the comments above, I just realized that it was that relay call.
ReplyDeleteIP Relay is a communication service provided by MCI. It's intended use was for deaf people to communicate via telephone, like tech support, etc. However, it's often used for pranks, and recently I just learned credit card fraud. The service itself is harmless, it's just the jackasses that want to prank call that fuck it up.
Okay here is the deal - its true that it is a person relaying a message through a computer which then has a third party on the phone with you. I have a friend overseas this is what he uses to contact me.
ReplyDeleteI got this gay ass call from these lowlifes. When I find them I will take a giant shit on them, and have diarrea all over their face. Then I'll take a picture of it, and put it on a website so everyone can see these losers w shit on them
ReplyDeleteHappened to me tonight, very vulgar and knew things such as my girlfriends name and our friends names, my parents names, the college i go to and the type of car i drive, is there any way to find out who is behind it? because if there is please tell me how so i can find out who it is
ReplyDeletefuck, that guy called me and left some creapy messages. he loved me, he hated me, he was outside me house waiting for me... that is fucking sick. i filed a police report. i live in tucson arizona.
ReplyDeletehe also new what shirt i was was wearing the night before. where are you guys from?
ReplyDeleterelay is a program on instant messager where someone types to an operater and he reads what they type. and then you talk to them and they type to the person on the computer.
ReplyDeleteI just got a call from that number tonight, no message though....i'm from annapolis, MD
ReplyDeletei keep getting the calls too. but its from someone on aim who is relaying a call to you.
ReplyDeleteI just got two calls on my cell from this number. I didn't recognize it, so I didn't answer either and no message was left. Has figured this thing out yet?
ReplyDeleteHey, I received one today, from the exact same number. They said they were a relay service and the person knew my name. They also knew information from a text message I received from a friend. If you text message alot, this may be the way they got your number and info.
ReplyDeletePeace.
i just that phone call too at 11:52pm. i wasnt too awake because i was just about to fall asleep...the lady told me that a person talking through the CPU would type and she would talk for them. they asked my name and they knew it. then they asked me if i went out with "my boyfriends name" !! i dont know what just happened but its kinda scary. even more scary is that i answered that it was my name and that that was my boyfriend. but when i asked who it was the operator told me that the person on the CPU said "dont worry about that". so now i know its someone being stupid. but still.... how did they know my cell phone number?
ReplyDeletehey guys,
ReplyDeletejust thought i would enlighten you all.
i'm an operator, i tell people i help deaf people use the telephone, but thats not all i do. if you think you want to check it out, make a funny phone call, don't. this is why:
1)you're going to piss of an unlucky operator. chances are they've heard it umpteen times before. you're not original.
2)you're operators already pissed because they've been spending their day trying to bust scam calls from scammers that have probably already stolen your identity and
3)some poor 85 year old deaf woman trying to call 911 may get put on hold on a busy friday night because 395980935 kids are making "silly" phone calls. her husband could die because he's having a heart attack. wait. he did. this actually happened.
so go to this website. concerned people, operators, business owners, and victims gather to unite. educate yourself.
http://ip_relay_scams.aimoo.com/
oh yeah, and one more reason not to make prank calls. opr's have a lovely list of numbers. mommy and daddy will find out what you're doing.
I just got called with that same number also! And the lady said it was a relay call. And she said some very sexaul shit.... and I asked who is this, but i didn't say go ahead, and she said to remember i gotta say go ahead, and i didn't say anything and then she said, relay call operator 216 has ended/hungup, goodbye. Wtf?????????
ReplyDeleteLast night me and some friends got a call just like that a relay thing. it was my friends cell phone they knew her name and about one of her piercings wtf how do they know that. they said they lived near us and wanted us to meet him at a local playground. we didnt because we were affraid of what he could do. if anyone knows anything about this please let us know we are fuckin scared out of our minds.
ReplyDeleteI got the same kind of call last night around 1:30 from the same number. The caller was going through an operator of some sort. They left me vulgar comments and used my name as if the person on the other end knew me. It scared the living hell out of me and I am still shaken up uncontrollably..I dont know what to do? Any ideas on how to track down this stupid prankster?
ReplyDeleteThey called me last night at like 3 am! I was sleeping when I answered it. The voice sounded real but still automated. I would have to say "go ahead" so they can type back to the "person" calling me? At least that is all I can remember, I was half asleep. Im from Illinois, but the # came from Ohio! It was weird bc what they said made me think they know me!
ReplyDeleteHappened to me at 2am this morning on my cell phone. Like Sarah, I'm also from Illinois. Said something to the effect that they were translating what someone typed on their computer and would translate anything I said back to the computer. They wanted for me to take a survey. Thinking that it was some illegal telemarketing scheme or maybe some off-shore phone rip-off, I hung up.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the page below, it's and "MCI Inward TTY" number
http://bellsmind.net/Engine/BellsMindParseExtended.php?NPA=216&NXX=416
I live in Alabama and just got the same phone call. Didn't answer it but googled to find this site. I also have a website and reviewed my web logs to see if someone had hit my contact page around that time ... sure enough ...

All of the WHOIS information associated with the IP address is fake so it is definately a site. The phone call did originate via a VOIP and a relay operator. No calls allowed back into the number though. Very strange.
Last night while I was at work this number called me. My 'rents picked it up and they were saying some very dirty things to me and knew my name. Now that I know it really cannot be just random that scares me. I'm pi$$ed off, who would do that to me? Well, it could have been random like someone being an @$$ taking a directory and just having fun with it. *sigh* I looked up the number and found this and was relieved I'm at least not the only one.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Michigan. Interesting we're all in the general area of each other.
its been a while since April 2005...and this is really creeping us out. we are teenagers and we dont know how these people got her number. we got the call at 12:27 AM November 26, 2005. we are really scared and we dont know who it is. they were transfering everything to a computer we could hear them typing. we dont know if it is a prank call or not because we dont know that area code. anyway, if anyone knows anything about this that could help us not be so scared..please repost.
ReplyDelete--a&h
It happened to me on Nov 28th, sometimes in the early morning. I looked through all the comments above, just wondering if there is pathern to all these? Could there be a group of retards that got hold of random people's personal information and made the prank call? Those retards are certainly computer literate to use relay as identity concealment.
ReplyDeleteI didnt answer the call, I never bother to wake up to get a phone call. Too bad wrong time to call me.
Just wondering does anyone reported here has broadband connection?
This has happened to me twice now this year - - once in May and once last night around 8. Each time it told me my boyfriend was cheating on me, and the girl left a name this last time...not sure if it's true, but it definitely got me thinking (I didn't recognize the name at all). Is this really a service where you can send people anonymous messages and not be traced, or is it more likely it's someone I don't know pranking me? I have a wireless connection on my computer...I don't think it's somebody with random numbers. People's personnel information seems to be used frequently. It's strange none of us seem to know any more information on this "service". Any ideas??
ReplyDeleteThe reason I asked about broadband connection is because there is a possibility that the computer got hacked into, hence the callers knowing something personal to us. Just a theory, since I noticed some unusuall activities on my computer recently.
ReplyDeleteWish i had picked up that phone call, if the caller say some personal stuffs to me, I might be able to trace it
I live in New York State. I got a call from a similar number tonight at around 9:30. I didn't answer but through googling the number and then “MCI Inward TTY" I've landed here. Should I be worried that someone has hacked into my computer? I don't believe my cell number is listed anywhere on the internet. This seems like a pretty lame prank to be pulling on people.
ReplyDeleteyeah..got that call today a few minutes ago. from detroit, mi. it was kind of creepy because i didn't know about it and the operator sounded foreign. and he only got out "i know what you've been looking for...i know what you're looking for, go ahead". so i hung up. i didn't know this "service" existed. seems pretty useless.
ReplyDeleteI just received on of these calls tonight. The content was nothing vulgar, however it was strange. At first, I was absolutely unsure as to what the service was actually doing, and also who would be calling. The first thing I did was google the number. I found this site. From what I've figured, with the information they had about me, it must have been someone I know doing it as a prank. I would like to know who did it, because I didn't find it all that funny. Anyways, I would definately prefer it was just a friend being a moron.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteThis a free service provider for the deaf. I know anything can be misused, and it looks like this has. I can not imagine the operator saying something vulgar. I used to use it to keep from having to call long distance, not anymore since I do not want some old lady dying because I am cheap.
Why would a service provider allow prank calls.
If they know your information, it is probably because the person calling the system knows your info not the system itself. I can call anyone anywhere free, but I can not get information on them unless I already know them. Sorry you guys are getting prank calls on a service that was created for a good purpose.
Shootingstar
Hey I don't know you or anything, but I was called by that number last night, and I saw your blog on google so I figured I'd check out what you had to say.. I don't understand who would leave such a vulgar message as I am actually a very nice person with no friends that would do such a thing to me.. oh well.. it's a stupid prank I guess. and I do remember reading on here that it has been happening out west, but I live in Eastern PA so it must be spreading... great huh...
ReplyDeleteThis happened to my wife and I at 3:00am last night. They decided to call my wife's cell phone. I thought that her ex got a hold of the number or something and decided to fuck around with us.
ReplyDeleteIt started at 10:52pm last night with the number (216)416-0033. My wife and I were asleep and the phone was on vibrate. By the time we felt it, it was to late because the call had ended by then. We didn't know who it was so we didn't bother to even call back. At 2:33 in the morning (same evening) we got a call from (612)547-0006. I took her phone and answered it. The operator explained herself about the service and said to me not to forget to say "go ahead". I accepted the call. I asked the caller who it was. They said "no". I asked how they got this number. They said, "Don't worry about it, can I speak to '[my wife's name{shortened}]'.
I put my wife on the phone. My wife asked her, her name, and she said her name is "Monica". We didn't know of any "Monica". She said she went to school with my wife and got the cell number from a co-worker. When we started to ask more questions, the operator said that the call has been dropped and that the session was over. I started to freak out because I have a sensor light outside on the porch which turned on about 1 minute after we hung up. Then I started hearing shit around the house. I checked the entire house, and no one else was there. Just the two of us. I went to Fonefinder.net to trace the two calls. (216)416-0033 is based out of Cleveland, Ohio. The one that we answered to at 2:33am, (612)547-0006 is based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I live out of New York. This shit's fuckin' crazy.
actually if they call you can ask who the person is. its usually an aol screen name or something. i got a call and it ended up being a prank from one of my friends.
ReplyDeleteOF course like you all I got this same stupid call..... and of course to find out what was going on I typed it in Yahoo and this Web page came up. Obviously someone has my number and they are on the net on the Relay IP ..... and I asked "who is this" and never responded.. Im gonna block the number... ..
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ip-relay.com/index.htm
ReplyDeletethis is it ! some freakin idiots do this dont be like them!
I got the same fucking phone call tonight the Date is 03 May 2006. I tried to trace the call, but nothing came up. Im gonna see if i can get the boys over at intel take a look and see what hey can come up with and have these fuckers shut down. But its scaring me as well. From the shit ive read with all you guys...all my guns are loaded now...who knows who this is and what their planning on doing...not just to me but to anyone of you. take care everyone.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Deaf person myself. Whoever has been using this IM Relay number has been trying to impersonate my partner, also Deaf, to access info from a credit card. Fortunately, the credit card company was suspicious and locked the account.
ReplyDeleteSo, this impersonator is not only harrassing you, hearing people, but also pretending to be Relay operators for the Deaf and asking for secured info.
This sucks for us, Deaf people, because hearing people, victims of these idiotic pranks, will only hang up on us, who are making legit calls and businesses.
http://www.ip-relay.com/
ReplyDeleteThere you go guys, that's the website your prankster friends are using.
Go ahead and get them back
if anyone is looking for a fun number to prank try 216-536-1803 This is the number I dug up when researching who used this on me. Feel free to try this service out on this number, I think they deserve it.
I as well received a phone call from the number 216-416-0033.
ReplyDeleteThe caller stated that they would be speaking for someone typing a message. Maybe its some sorta disabled phone system way of people who cant speak have to result to this method of communication?
I'm not sure really....
I know the person typing was inquiring about a laptop computer which would explain the call made to my business telephone number since I do sell laptops.
But after 2 minutes the other end just hung up, so whatever/whoever it was would probably be best just not to answer the call.
Voicemail! oh wait, they wouldn't be able to do that? :( aww.. sad apples
CALLER DONT CALL ME AGAIN!!!
I did get a call from this number and it turned out to be a friend of mine who is hearing impaired. I am sure that they need this service.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame that some people have way too much time on their hands to pull such pranks and creep others out. But one thing I am grateful for is the fact that I was able to google it and get some sort of answer as to where to call came from.
Be safe all.
Hi - I just got a call a few minutes ago... Same number. It's a little after midnight when the phone rings, I didn't know the number so I didn't pick it up. I was online - so just for the heck of it I googled it (businesses that call usually show up when you google) and found all of you with the same number calling!!! Weird! I'm glad I didn't answer and glad I found all of you so I won't ever pick it up... I would like to know who and/or why someone is doing this.. Crazyness! People need to grow up!
ReplyDeleteBy the way - forgot to mention - I am in Atlanta, Georgia - a long way from ost of you, but receiving the call just the same :(
ReplyDeleteI got that call too, wanting to buy one of my Mini Schnauzers....Is this for real? I told th person I only sell locally.....
ReplyDeleteI just got a vulgar call from 216-416-0033. The operator said that it was for person who did not have a phone only keyboard access. I was told to end whatever I wanted to say with "go ahead." the message started and was rather vulgar - but nothing quite as vulgal as what is posted here ironically enough (what is that about BTW - I am not a blogger). Anyway, I asked who was sending me the message and the operator said that the call was over and hung up. My cell phone company (Cingular) can't block calls and suggested that I change my number and report it to the police....
ReplyDeleteI got a similar call that was supposedly from my ex boyfriend. We were supposed to get back together when he got home from this program, Job Corps, and he said the most fucked up shit. Like "we should give it a rest" "I think it was the milkshake" "we should be friends" blah blah blah blah and then he said something about trippin sac on x and his dick being hard? So it was pretty much a kind of a vulgar call, cuz at one point he was like "listen bitch" which is not something he would say. I called his best friend and he said it probably wasn't him, just wait until he gets back and then ask him about it. But I don't know... Relay calls are for pussies.
ReplyDeleteMy wife gets and makes calls to this number. I believe it is a sort of private chat were a computer program is prompted to make the call and private conversation can begin when the other party codes in. My wife is not faithful and I believe this may be a way to avoid detection. I will continue researching this until I either get a pattern of her phone calls that enclude this number or make contact through her number and take a stab at some codes.
ReplyDeleteJust got a call from this number 612.547.0006 at 11:00 p.m. Was told it was a relay service. But then nothing. The operator said a phone number, but would not repeat it when I asked. Just strange. Absolutely nothing said but the other "party". Just listened to the background noise from the operator. Then I googled. Oh, well, no harm done.
ReplyDeletedood, i totally got the same thing. It was weird. cuz i slept at 10 and everything and my cell in my purse. earlier today i called my aunt and when i looked at my log, before i saw the number. and apperently i answered the phone. but i unno!!! its so weird! im just hoping i ddint answer it!!!! its so weird. i hope my dad ddnt. either. but yea!
ReplyDeleteTHIS has been happening to us all night long
ReplyDeleteI got a call today from the same number today when I was in class. I thought it might have been some of my Army of college buddies calling me from a new cell phone number, but I looked up the 612 area code and knew that I know no one from Minnesota. Your page helped. I was not left a voice mail though.
ReplyDeletei just got this call. she knew my name and where i lived. she also said that she knew me from myspace. and that i gave her my number. none of which i did. i dont know any def people. the conversation didnt start out vulgar but then the voice started talking about underaged sex. being in my 20s im not tryin to go to jail or be reported. so i just hung up. i can only imagine what the oporater thinks.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry everyone. It's not a stranger who's making the call. It's someone YOU know making the call through the website. Just treat it as a normal prank call, it's just a more modernized prank call. Don't get freaked out by it, though. It happened to me too and I just didn't get it. I heard about people using it to prank others and that's all it is. So don't worry. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteI just got a call from this number. I had listed my car on MySpace and the guy contacted me. I knew he was sketchy 'cause he had a girls pic listed, a guy's name and no contacts, and had sent a general email that looked like it had just inserted the basics of my car into it. I told him that I didn't trust him, and that if he was serious, he'd call me. He used the relay to call me. Now I'm seriously thinking he was trying to steal my MySpace ID or worse - financial identity. BEWARE of the number!!
ReplyDeleteI got the call today at my business and the person wanted to buy phones. It's a LOOOOOONG story (that i'll post up here sometime later when the dust settles) but in any event, I'm in with u guys here.... I think it's strange as well.... good stories guys! keep posting as stuff happens! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry this is going to be long winded, but... Back in Aug I was selling Yorkie puppies and I got a call from a Relay operator (exactly as you all have described) the caller finally asked me to email him. I sent pictures of the puppies and received a very long email back about how he went deaf rescuing refugees in Iraq (a bomb went off), he assured me that the puppy would be loved etc.., He needed my information to send me a USPS Money Order for the amount of the Puppy, plus money for me to forward via Western Union to a shipping company in London and they would contact me to pick up the Puppy. The letter was very long and probably used often. I wrote back and told him that if what he said about how he went deaf was true, that I was sorry. My son is in the Army and had served in Iraq and if he was there doing volunteer work, God would take care of him, but that I didn't like the exchanges of Money. If he wanted to send me the amount for the Puppy, I would take the Money Order to the USPS and once they verified that it was authentic, he could have the Puppy picked up. I never heard from him again. Fast Forward to lastnight (Oct 29th) I find out from my sister that she has been talking to a guy she meet through a MySpace page that her daughter set-up for her. Her husband walked out 2 months ago. She's almost 52 and should have been smarter about it... Anyway, they have been IMing for about two weeks and he supposedly lives in NY, is a widower, has his own import/export business, is currently in Africa and is coming to see her in Arizona when he returns to the US.... I made her give me his name and did a ZABA Search on him, best search engine I have ever tried. Couldn't find him. I invited him to my IM and he accepted. I just finished I'ming with him, in very broken English. He had sent my sister pictures of himself and his son. Obviously Caucasion, it's not him in the picture. He told me, "i have one son named Nelson and he's 15years now" (not 15 years old?) that he is "Spainish America" not the guy in the picture... I asked for a phone number in NY, he told me that he disconnected his phone while he is on his business trip. While I was IMing him, a call came in to her cell phone from 216-416-0033. I was on her land line phone and told her not to answer it. SHe told me that he has called her from that same number before. When I confronted him, he said, "i just use that just because i don't have enough calling card with me" My sister made herself invisible to him, he IM'd her and said that I was harassing him and that he didn't understand. I told him that I work for the US Gov't and that I knew he wasn't who he said he was, that he needed to leave my sister alone or I would report him, and he finally got off line. I'm a Gov't Contractor... So I wasn't really lying... BE AWARE... at least so far he only had her cell phone number... and she hasn't sent him any money. As for Bill (AUG 6th) call your wife using that number and see what she says to the operator.
ReplyDeleteOk so y'all are wondering about that number.. it's an http://www.ip-relay.com number... if u get on that site.. then someone calls u that is one of their servers.. there are like 5 or 6 of them.. that's just one of the ones that's used mostly... that's all it is.. so it's just someone using their site to call and that number is a server on ip relay
ReplyDeleteI got calls from 0000123456, and the 216-416-0033 number. I have a stalker who uses the computer a lot and I am confident it is her. Any information would be great since the DA and police have been stumped by her continued need to contact me but can't pin her down. She often uses people in chat rooms to call to harass me.
ReplyDeleteIf they continue, change your number. Also ifyou want to really find out who it is, the internet relay company will have records; call their legal dept. and ask the police to demand the records.
Numbers from 0000123456 come from a computer program called Skype. Skype is used by people in one country to dial cheaply to other countires. You will never be able to track down the user because Skype doesn't keep records like that. You can find out more about skype at skype.com
ReplyDeleteI just got the same call and after reading what you guys said realized what it is, in the AIM messenger service you are able to call a number and have a person translate what you are typing into a phone to another person who may be blind. I know this because a kid was messing with me tonight in college by locking my door from the outside and he continued by doing this, he has shown me this before, he uses it to have an operater say stupid things that he types to people on the phone line. It was a prank pulled by someone you probably know and is pretty stupid
ReplyDeleteToday is nov. 22nd at 919 pm my girlfriend got a call and put it on speaker phone and the guy said his name was josh and he said a very disturbing coment. We filed a police report and tried calling the number and it says "All circuits are busy now" the number was 612-547-0006
ReplyDeleteJust got the call from the minneapolis number.
ReplyDeletei googled while on the phone and told them i already knew it was a scam and if they keep calling i will call the police.
I got the same call today and I said "Who is this?" and they said "your boy". . . that was a sign of an "automatic hang up." I don't have time that kind of bullshit.
ReplyDeletei got several today but but 2 numbers one at 213.416.0033 & 408.822.1645 getting kind of annoying
ReplyDeleteDude. holy shit I got it too, am I gonna die in seven days now?!!!?? shit!
ReplyDeletePLEASE DO NOT TAKE THESE CALLS LIGHTLY! READ THIS:
ReplyDeleteI want to clear up a few things with everyone and tell of my experience with this. Early this morning, I received a call from 612-547-0006 at 3:42am, 3:44am and 3:46am. I missed the first call, and called the number back thinking it was a long-distance relative and something was wrong. It didn't go through- just made a bunch of noise. Then, they called right back. When the operator started explaining the relay service, I suddenly remembered that the same thing happened to me early in 2005 for several days in a row, usually late at night. And when she started the conversation and the person was threatening to come over and kill me, I felt so angry and helpless. Last time it totally freaked me out- I was living in an apartment by myself- and I called my dad and woke him up and made him come get me. I was too scared to even go outside and drive myself over there, thinking someone could be waiting downstairs for me. This time, my boyfriend was with me, so I felt a little safer. (He made me leave the house this morning when he left for work and go stay with some family)
I demanded that the operator tell me who was contacting me, and she said that she couldn't give me that information. She asked if I wanted the customer service number, and I was like "YES!" I immediately called customer service and heard someone fumbling with the phone and whispering, then they finally answered. They told me that they were a federally funded program (so I'm paying for someone to harass me?!) and that they are not allowed to keep records once a call is over. It seems like a very unprofessional service provider, and strangely enough, the operator's voice this time sounded like the exact same person from last year- what are the odds of that?
Although many of the calls everyone is receiving are probably just pranks that they needn't worry about, there are still some that could actually be in a dangerous situation. IF YOU RECEIVE A CALL LIKE THIS, PLEASE FILE A REPORT WITH YOUR LOCAL POLICE STATION, AND UPDATE THEM IF IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN OR IF YOU FIND OUT WHO IT WAS. MAKE IT KNOWN TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO YOU SO THEY CAN KEEP AN EYE ON YOU, AND TELL THEM YOU HAVE FILED A REPORT. THIS WAY, IF IT IS SOMEONE YOU KNOW, THEY MAY HEAR ABOUT YOU SPEAKING TO THE POLICE AND STOP DOING IT.
At this point, I don't know what to think. I have had suspicious vehicles follow me before (NEVER drive straight home if you think you're being followed- I always make a few extra turns to lose them, or drive in the opposite direction) I have also had a history of stalkers, and the death threats do scare me. Last year when this happened I had a different number and cell phone service provider. So, from what I can tell, either the person knows who I am and is targeting me, or it is a random prankster or computer program who does this SO MUCH that they just happened to get my number TWICE.
Because of the content of the call, and because the IP Relay customer service people told me there was nothing they could do to help me, I will be headed to the police station in a bit to file a report. I'll repost to let you all know what they are doing to handle it. I will also be contacting my local newspaper and station to see if they can get the word out on how to be smart about this.
Well, guess what you guys...im in your boat. What the heck is this? I'm on the fone's all day & i have aprogram which tells me about missed called and things. I went to dial the # back and i keep getting a busy signal. Ohh Goose bumps! i've only been called once, and lets hope it stays that way. Luckily i am able to keep the record of this call with the program i use at work. This is my work # they tried calling. IDK, but reading all your posting, im freaked out! Any one else?
ReplyDeleteARE U GUYS SERIOUS RETARTED!!..ONE OF UR FRIENDS IS JUST MESSIN WITH U...ITS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....BUT FOR ALL U THAT THINK EVERYONE IS OUT TO GET U BECAUSE UR SPECIAL, UR WRONG!!!..THEY WERE JUST FUCKIN WITH U!!!!

ReplyDeleteThis is what happend to me .
ReplyDeleteI got the call said his name was Rev. Hurrison Jeffrey he wanted a price on some blinds. 40x40, 80 blinds.
lots of money he e-mailed me a credit card # it did not go through when I ran it. he gave me a fake address in IN. I found out that the number is in Ohio. I sent him an e-mail this morning that I expected a cashers check for $5435.83 the cost of the blinds, to be sent to my address becuas we have a contract. This is Hurrison Jeffreys e-mail address
hurrisonj@gmail.com drop the rev. an e-mail I think ist a bunch of kids.
If it was my kid doing this I would kick his ass.
I just got a call yesterday. Someone that wouldn't tell me their name... "Don't worry about who I am" and knew personal things about my body (i.e. unvisable tattoos) Who ever it was was asking what I was wearing. I am assuming I know this person... but whoever it was should tell me cus I'm paranoid... and if it happens again I'll probably call the police because its not worth the risk if I have a creapy stalker out there.
ReplyDeleteyea i just got a call and i was on the computer at the time and i wanted to know aht the hell it was but it was obviously from someone i knew
ReplyDeleteI received a Relay call from the good Rev for 40x40 blinds... he also gave me an address in IN and the two credit cards to split the amount...one was declined and the other process and now I have to eat the cost of credit card processing both ways... I tried calling the relay switchboard and it appears they do not keep records of the calls that come in... For it being AT&T that is BS...that they do not keep track of the call location or the IP address from which the caller is typing... since I am out the money for this and the real card owner contacted me to refund his money I began the research and obviously came up empty until I found this site... Guess I will be calling the police to file fraud charges. Did they ask to get a person from a shipping company involved. I would string up this individual that is for sure...
ReplyDeleteI got a couple of these calls today at 4:15PM today.
ReplyDeleteIf I don't know the number, I don't answer the cell phone. They can leave a msg! Irritating!
I have never been so freaked out, i just got a call from this stupid number and they said something really disgusting to me through that operator and i got scared and hung up. I don't know what made me google it but seeing all these other people with the same problem is really bizzare. whoever these sickos are really need to get a life. oh i'm from alabama.
ReplyDeleteMy teenager got one of these last night. The call came from 216-416-0033. They called at 12:29 a.m. They knew his name. They also asked if he had their money. They said their name was Tony Young. We live in Arizona. We are on our way to the Police Station.
ReplyDeleteI get these calls every so often also. I just got one today, but didn't get to it in time. No message was left and looks like no harm done as of now.
ReplyDeletejust got one also. i wasn't in my dorm when it happened but i saw 2 calls from the same number. sounds like it's just some jackass tryin to pull a prank.
ReplyDeleteI just got one at work, very strange as they would need to know my direct line to pass the opporator. They asked for a Jason and wanted to be transfered, which I didn't do. After he hung up the supervisor came on the line and said "this call follows a pattern of fraudulent calls that have been made lately. Please confirm the identity of the person before any money is exchanged.†They also gave a phone number to call with concerns: 866-735-0373. Please call this number if you are concerned at all about the call you received.
ReplyDeleteI just got the call now. I think it might be from some sort of weird cosmic being...it was fucking odd. I live all the way in California and 216 i think is from Ohio...and well. They knew things about me that I have never told anyone. Just things I've experienced and such and. Then they said it was the police, and they were coming to get me. I thought it was a friend at first, but...I guess not if everyone else is getting the calls too. peace out kids.
ReplyDeletefuck the 216

I had placed an ad in the Fresno paper for poodle puppies and recevied a call from a relay operator but it came thru on my cell as a restricted number. She proceeded to tell me this person wanted me to email him at kentcord@yahoo.com. I did and he emailed back stating he used to work for the UN and recently lost his hearing while evacuating civilians in Iraq. He said that he wanted one of my puppies but that a consigment co. in London would have a rep pick up the puppy and fly him to New York where he was. This seemed very strange to me so I asked why he wasn't looking in his region of the country for a dog, but he never responded to that question, so I emailed him back saying I didn't want to sell my puppy this way. Then 5 days later I get another call from a relay operator but this time it showed the 216-416-0033 number. I told the operator, if this about the puppies for sale, they have all been sold, she then said the caller hung up. Very, very bizarre - not sure if the 2 calls are related
ReplyDeletealright it may seem fucking funny. im getting charged these shits. whether i pick it up or not. its a piece of shit thing that sucks the life out of u. whoever does this should fucking die and be impaled. it disrespectful, that i got this and having the shit scared out of me because whoever did it threatened my life. they told me to wait behind a waldbaums. luckily i had a friend who doesnt know anyone in NY, walk down to ther. sure enough there was a guy waiting with a pic of me and a baseball bat. i found out it was kids that dont like me trying to give me a scare. cut the shit out its gay and childish
ReplyDeleteI met someone thru yahoo personals back in Jan and he claimed he was in contrustuction and working in South Africa. I have never spoken to him on the phone but we have been e-mailing each other for almost a month. He asked me for my address several times stating he wanted to pick me up for a date when he was back in AZ. I told him I would never give my address to anyone that I've never met before. Anyway he was very insistant and I still didn't budge. I gave him my cell phone number and told him he could call me. I just recieved a call form this 216-416-0033 and the person said it was a relay call. I'm thinking maybe he is in South Africa and no cell service out there. He explained thru the relay that he wanted my address for someoen else and mentioned something about an orphanage and wanted to send me books. Of course i still didn't give it to him. Said he would call from his friends phone which is 233288209884. When I picked up the phone I couldn't hear anything. Not sure if I should be worried but I am a little worried and not sure what this is all about.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else experiences this?
I just had some whore call me on V-day to fuck with me.. same MO as everyone else... the person knew shit that only a group of maybe 10-12 people would know!! unless they hacked my computer? the number was 216-416-0033 to say the least it was funny! However, I sell cell phones for a major carrier and If I find out who did this.. I'm going to make sure their next cell phone BILL is well over 1000 dollars!~!!!! play games FAGGOT.. I know the whore that did this to me or someone else is reading this.. ---NEWS FLASH----I'll break your neck "if" I find out.. you need to get laid or go kill yourself because you're a waste of life and SPACE!!!

612-524-0455
612-547-0006
sad that its come to this but hey that's life!!
i received a call from this number as well, last night. i got a call the night before from a different number: 408 822 1645 (3x). i didn't answer the 408 number, but a sexual, vulgar message was left. caller knew my name and personal info. i got real scared. i googled the number the next day, found out about this RO service, which i'd never heard about before! got the call from this 216 number (2x), didn't answer. before i checked my voicemail, i googled the number and another blog thing about this number came up, clicked on it and found this blog. i was so scared to check my voicemail, but i did. a message was left, it was sexual and again, real vulgar. caller knew my name and personal info. i don't know how this person got my cell #. i'm real scared right now. if this is suppose to be some kind of prank, it's not at all fking funny. i am going to the police today, that's the key advice i'm gettting from all these blogs. what i don't understand is how these RO girls are able to relay these types of messages, isn't there some kind of restriction on what they can and can't relay?! i understand this service was created for a good purpose, but there is too big a loophole in the system, i think they should shut it down, re-plan it, then bring it back out. this is complete and utter bullshit.
ReplyDeletejust happened to me too, this is kinda of dumb, i wish that the operators would screen the calls due to the vast amounts of pranks that are being done through this. BTW i know this isnt important but what freaked me out is what i was doing before it happened, lets just say it was indecent, so This is really messing with me thinking that there is someone lookingover my shoulder and calling through a operator anounymously to hassass me, I don't know anyone deaf so i knew it wasn't i knew, but the fact of the matter is, i wish they wouldn't mess with people so much
ReplyDeleteWait why is this website even on here for people to put their comments with the same problem, so it must be their website. Anyways i got the call too those mother fuckres knew my race they called me a "Persian fagget" and talk about some relay shit and that they were ganna type some shit and their ganna read it to me or some shit, just like all the others, i tired calling back but it didn't answer. If i found out who they are i will put 9 inches of man power in thier dirty slutyy mouth. Those mother fuckers i will rape their mom's sisters and themselves mother fucker pussies behind those phones, you got the ball come talk to me face to face bitch i will stick my dick in your ear hole mother fuckers, and i have already given this number to the LOCAL FBI AGENCY, their on your ass's mother fuckers. peace out and people don't worry it's just some fucking low life people fucking around.
ReplyDeleteok guys, you all have some pretty creative imaginations but let me unveil the truth to you. Its part of a website www.iprelay.com its a free federally funded service so deaf people can communicate with their family members. (Deaf people have a history of being unable to use standard telephones.) Being that every American is covered under the Freedom of Speech clause the operator MUST AND HAS TO say everything that the person types on the website.
ReplyDeleteIn closing, relax because no one is trying to kill you. It is a service for deaf people and one of your friends is having a real serious laugh at your expense right now. So, take this little tidbit of knowledge and start pranking the hell out of your friends.
ps. remember that the operators MUST SAY ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that you type. Happy pranking.
He is a scammer and trys to steal your Identy and tries to blackmail people. I am going through it right now. Trying to look up who this is. The number seams to be comeing from Ohio not sure where in Ohio though. Just did a reverse Number Trace on the number and no Result. I am going to try some other things to find out who it is. Thanks for the IP address. This information helps me out and trying to uncover who it is.
ReplyDeleteI just got that call maybe 20 minutes ago. Whoever it was said they were going to rape and kill me in an alley. I just got this number and people are already fucking with me. I'm from MI, is there anyway to find out who actually called?
ReplyDeleteTheres no real need to worry, someone has your phone number (more or less probably a friend trying to freak you out) on AIM and has typed it into a username called: My IP Relay
ReplyDeleteOr, at least thats who I think it is. One of my friends got a call like that and they asked who it was, and then they said it was one of their friends. :?
so, I got a call from the same number 216-416-0033 2 days ago. We had gone away for a week and a foster pup we asked a friend to take care of had escaped from her back yard. She did not notify us until Thursday 6/14. We posted flyers in the area, checked the local shelters and of course posted on Craigslist. Monday about 2pm I get a call from the 216 number and it was very, very difficult to communicate through the operator/relay system. Anyway, those bastards said they had my dog, she was safe and would be contacting us...of course NOTHING.
ReplyDeleteWTF, what is this number some sort of assholes only service to hurt people?
These numbers are for internet relay chats. I was just called by several different ones: 6125240455, 4088221645, 6125470006, 2164160033. I've been messing around with one of those nigerian bank scam guys... Lol he actually thinks he has me...
ReplyDeletewell after seeing this I think im in the clear I thought it was the fbi or something haha unless were all just a bunch of felons. But yeah they called me they said that they were one of my friends and they asked something about shrooms or something. All I could hear was typing. They actually called my friends and told them to meet at another one of my friends house. I don't know what it is I tried to reverse phone find it but I ain't spending money on some scammers but yeah I am pretty creeped out
ReplyDeleteOMG! I literally just got that same call I live in new york . I thought it was some telemarketer but when the person came on I didnt even say go ahead and the message was asking me about "nigger lips, sucking dick". that shit pissed me off and on top of that I asked the operator who it was from and she said she couldnt tell me. I then hung up
ReplyDeleteif i get this call again I'm goint to the station.
Not sure if this is related I got a check from Klipsh LLC for an amount I'm not sure I'm owed. When I tried the contact numbers on the website it redirected me to another nunber that wasn't valid. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else. If they are just trying to get my personal information if I deposited the check.
ReplyDeleteSo, there is no way to trace the actual caller right?
ReplyDeleteOmG! I just recieved a call not to long ago. Same thing as R.S California wrote. I have a puppy that I'm selling and the same guy kentcord@yahoo.com wanted to send me a big check except he was from Olympia, Washington. He emailed me and said he wanted to buy the puppy for his son's b-day, nothing about being injured in the war. The number was also private. I found the email to be wierd and decided to google his email. Sure enough I found it hear and obviously he's trying to scam me. Thanks to this blog my doubts were confirmed. I emailed the guy telling him I will only sell my puppy to locals. He hasn't responded back, so hopefully no one is tricked by this guy.
